Nostalgia : 10 years ago Summer Moved On : A-Ha

Summer Moved On... .. I'm having a moment with this heart aching song again. A-ha returned with this epic song in the Winter of 2000, (Summer to my northern residents). I played it again this week, it still gets me, reducing me to tears. Morten's voice just quivers emotion that transends to me in epic proportions. It was #1 for 5 weeks in 2000, and wound up as the #2 song of the year. On reflection it should of been 8 weeks on top , and The Song Of  2000.

Listen, with headphones, alone  and just feel that feeling...

isn't it strangely sad that they are now (for now at least) releasing their final video and single ever :/

I have to admit not being an a-ha fan back in the day. I found "take on me" so ridiculously overplayed. I thought of these guys as nothing more than teeny boppers. Back in winter 2000, I made a trip to India and saw a new a-ha video being featured on MTV India. I watched it just to see what those "relics" had to say for themselves musically. The song was "Summer Moved On". I was hooked and I couldn't believe how much I loved Morten Harket's voice. I became a fan - a huge fan. I have adored the band ever since and the adoration culminated in my watching them in concert in New York in May. My evening was complete when they sang "Summer Moved On" and Morten held a note for 20 seconds (god bless him!). The evening was an epic head-rush and I will really miss these guys. But my love affair with the band began with "Summer Moved On". This song is the musical zenith of a-ha.
